ChäoS;Child Anime Ending

ChäoS;Child (カオスチャイルド, Kaosu Chairudo) is a Japanese visual novel developed by Mages (formerly 5pb.), and is the fourth main entry in the Science Adventure Series. It serves as a thematic sequel to ChäoS;HEAd NoAH. It is likewise described as a “Delusional Science Adventure” (妄想科学ADV, Mōsō Kagaku Adobenchā), just like ChäoS;HEAd NoAH, and uses an upgraded version of the Delusion Trigger System.

Chaos;Child was originally released for the Xbox One on December 18, 2014, and since then has been ported to the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita on June 25, 2015; and to Windows PC on April 28, 2016, as well as iOS and Android on January 31, 2017 and May 28, 2017, respectively. It will be releasing for the Switch alongside ChäoS;HEAd NoAH on February 24, 2022.

A localization by PQube was released for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita on October 13, 2017 in Europe, and four days later in North America. Spike Chunsoft later published the game on Steam on January 22, 2019.

An English patch for the PC version was released by the Committee of Zero (originally for the Japanese PC version, now considered outdated, and later an improved patch for the Steam PC version, which is recommended). The Committee of Zero is the same translation group working on translating ChäoS;HEAd NoAH and porting it to Windows PC.

Anime Adaptation[]

An anime adaptation was produced by Silver Link and aired 13 episodes between January and March of 2017, with episodes numbered from 0 to 12, and with Episode 0 being an incredibly brief summary of ChäoS;HEAd focused on the parts which would be most relevant to ChäoS;Child.

ChäoS;Child: Silent Sky, a movie which is equivalent to 13th and 14th episodes to conclude the anime, aired in June 2017. Later, when the anime came out on Blu-ray, it was split up into 2 OVA episodes, Episode 13 and Episode 14, so that the final ChäoS;Child anime you can get on Blu-ray is a 15-episode anime with episodes numbered 0-14.

As with ChäoS;HEAd, the anime is widely considered to be inferior to the visual novel and full of spoilers for it (with many fans considering ChäoS;Child the best visual novel of the entire Science Adventure Series). It is therefore not recommended, at least not if you intend on playing the visual novel, given that the anime contains spoilers for the visual novel and is much shorter than the visual novel, cutting a lot of content.

Plot Overview[]

ChäoS;Child takes place in Shibuya several years after the events of the Shibuya Earthquake in ChäoS;HEAd, in the year 2015.

It follows Takuru Miyashiro as he investigates “The Return of the New Generation Madness”, a series of bizarre murders, reminiscent of the New Generation Madness serial killings that took place during ChäoS;HEAd.

At the same time, the Sumo Stickers that can be found throughout Shibuya seem to have increased, and other inexplicable events have begun to take place.

Characters[]

Main Characters:

  • Takuru Miyashiro: The president of the Newspaper Club of Hehiko Academy and a self-proclaimed “right-sider”. He values information above anything else. Like Takumi Nishijou, this protagonist’s nickname is “Taku”.
  • Serika Onoe: Takuru’s childhood friend. While she is far from the brightest in the group, her optimistic and child-like behavior manages to keep everyone going.
  • Nono Kurusu: The president of the student council of Hehiko Academy, and Takuru’s foster sister. She fears what could happen to Takuru as a result of his investigation of the murders, and tries to persuade him to stop.
  • Shinji Itou: A close friend of Takuru and Serika and a member of the Newspaper Club. His fascination with murder mysteries drives him to investigate the New Generation cases alongside Takuru.
  • Mio Kunosato: A scientist at Viktor Chondria University and friend of Kurisu Makise from Steins;Gate who comes to Shibuya for unknown reasons and works at Freesia Credit Bureau as an information broker. Her cold and mocking attitude is often too much for others to bear.

Side Characters:

Music[]

ChäoS;Child's soundtrack was released on March 23, 2016 in an album titled "Real Boot Modulation". Disc 1 consists of 28 tracks while Disc 2 consists of 31 tracks. The album includes the visual novel's opening and ending themes.

The Xbox One opening was titled Non-existent Youth (非実在青少年, Hijitsuzai Seishounen) while the Playstation opening was titled Singularity (シンギュラリティ). Both openings were sung by Kanako Itō.
