ChäoS;HEAd NoAH (カオスヘッドノア, Kaosu Heddo Noa), by 5pb. and Nitroplus, is an enhanced version of the visual novel game ChäoS;HEAd, originally released for Xbox 360 in 2009, and later ported to PlayStation Portable (PSP), iOS, Android, PlayStation 3 (PS3), PlayStation Vita (PS Vita), Nintendo Switch, and Microsoft Windows.
It superseded the original ChäoS;HEAd as the canon version of the first entry in the Science Adventure Series. By July 2020, the game sold over 130,000 copies.
Changes[]
As opposed to having four endings like the original ChäoS;HEAd (with its A ending, AA ending, B ending, and Game Over/Bad End), ChäoS;HEAd NoAH has 10 endings, with Ending A renamed “Silent Sky”, Ending AA renamed “Blue Sky”, and Ending B renamed “Crying Sky”. Notably, NoAH's true (Blue Sky) ending is extended from the original version's AA ending. The game additionally features six brand new routes for each of the six Gigalomaniac heroines. Compared with the original game, ChäoS;HEAd NoAH also boasts graphical enhancements, significant textual changes, added music tracks in certain scenes as well as new insert songs by FES.
The Xbox 360 and PS Vita versions of ChäoS;HEAd NoAH are uncensored, with a Cero Z Rating (18+). The PS3, PSP, Android and iOS editions received censorship regarding violence and sexual violence, and they have a CERO D rating (17+). Notably, the Nintendo Switch version is also censored in a manner akin to the CERO D releases despite having a CERO Z Rating.
Plot[]
Main article: ChäoS;HEAd NoAH/Plot
A variety of additional information that was not in the original ChäoS;HEAd was revealed in ChäoS;HEAd NoAH, such as more about what the Committee of 300 is really up to and who secretly works for it, the truth about Yua Kusunoki and her twin sister Mia Kusunoki, and how the world looks to Ayase Kishimoto’s eyes. Some of its new endings are pretty dark and twisted, with a lot of violence, but they also show things from the perspectives of other characters.
Sena Route[]
See ChäoS;HEAd NoAH/Plot#Sena route - Deus Ex Machina
It turns out the Committee of 300 knew the three leaders of N.O.Z.O.M.I., The Meiwa Party, and the Cosmic Church of the Divine Light, namely Gen'ichi Norose, Kouzou Inohana, and Yuudai Kuramochi, respectively, were plotting on betraying the Committee of 300 and pursuing world domination themselves while leaving the Committee out of it. The Committee of 300 had originally entrusted them with its Project Noah plan to develop artificial Gigalomaniac technology for realbooting, as part of the Committee’s plans for world domination, but once they found out about this betrayal, the Committee entrusted one of their loyal agents, Katsuko Momose of the Freesia Credit Bureau, with carrying out their new plans.
The Committee of 300’s new plans involved ensuring that the young Gigalomaniacs (the delusionary Takumi Nishijou and the six girls) succeeded in defeating Gen'ichi Norose and any of his co-conspirators, if they were still alive, as well as destroying the Noah II device which had become a threat to the Committee and which they were not in a position to be able to take control over. Katsuko Momose carried out her mission loyally, and in Sena's ending, she reports her success back to her superiors in the Committee of 300.
Yua Route[]
See ChäoS;HEAd NoAH/Plot#Yua route - Sun and Moon
In the Yua route it is revealed that Yua is actually her sister Mia Kusunoki, and it was Yua Kusunoki who died in the Group Dive (the first New Gen case), not Mia. Mia Kusunoki, who has been calling herself Yua all this time, has survivor’s guilt and suffers from Dissociative Identity Disorder.
This is discovered when Mia is trying to prove to Takumi that she is Yua and not Mia, and trying to prove that it was Mia and not Yua who died. But every piece of evidence she tries to come up with shows the opposite to be true, and eventually she admits that she really is Mia Kusunoki and that it was Yua Kusunoki who died in the first New Gen incident, accepting reality and abandoning this delusion of hers, which she even had everyone else in on, getting everyone else to call her Yua too.
Ayase Route[]
See ChäoS;HEAd NoAH/Plot#Ayase route - A Contract of Blood to Seal Our Sin
Regarding how the world looks to Ayase Kishimoto’s eyes, to her, the sky is a blood-red crimson, and this is always the way the sky has looked to her. In her character route, Takumi ends up getting to see reality the same way she does, too, and it is not a pleasant sight. This helps explain why Ayase behaves the way she does, because everything looks different to her. Also, while to other people like Takumi, the books of the Gladioul Saga appear to be nothing but empty pages, Ayase sees words on every page and can read them. The true nature of the book series ends up being unclear.
Ayase’s way of seeing things differently all the time, whether a blood-red sky that is blue to others or the contents of a book that look empty to others, probably connects to her ability to see prophetic visions, which she then writes as Phantasm songs and performs as FES. If we give Ayase the benefit of the doubt, her Gigalomaniac powers allow her to see things that others cannot, and while other people might mistakenly think these are delusions, Ayase is able to see the hidden truths of the world that others are blind to see, and this only appears to be a mental illness because that world itself is crazy.
Music[]
There is quite a bit of music related to ChäoS;HEAd NoAH, which is listed on the ChäoS;HEAd Music page. It has several different opening songs, ending songs, and insert songs listed there. The most notable songs are the opening songs, which are Fake Me on the Xbox 360, Fetishism Ark on the PlayStation Portable, and Chaos Logic on the PlayStation 3.

Versions[]
The PS Vita version, along with being uncensored, released as part of a bundle called “ChäoS;HEAd DUAL” which includes both ChäoS;HEAd NoAH and ChäoS;HEAd Love Chu☆Chu!.
ChäoS;HEAd NoAH received an HD remaster release for Nintendo Switch on February 24, 2022. It was bundled alongside its thematic sequel, ChäoS;Child in the ChäoS;HEAd NoAH/ChäoS;Child Double Pack.
An English localization of ChäoS;HEAd NoAH was released for the Nintendo Switch and Steam on October 7, 2022. The Steam release was initially cancelled due to content concerns on the platform, but this decision was later reversed after an outpouring of fan support on social media. It was additionally released for Microsoft Windows on the GOG storefront on October 31, 2022.
History of Translations[]
The group I-VNTP and a group led by HoaiTrung97 both made fan translations for the iOS and PSP versions respectively. However, both translations were incomplete and marred with consistency issues. Furthermore, they were also based on censored rather than uncensored ports of the game (only the Xbox 360 and PS Vita ports are uncensored). There was also a similar Android translation that had the same issues and was deleted off the Internet.
In 2016, the Committee of Zero announced they would be fully translating ChäoS;HEAd NoAH into English as well as porting the game to Windows. Progress remained slow for a few years but sped up from August 2020 onwards. On February 3, 2023, they released a translation patch compatible with the official PC port of the game as well as the Nintendo Switch version, while their own PC port of the Xbox 360 version still remains work in progress.
On May 19, 2018, Chiyomaru Shikura, the head of the studio MAGES (formerly called 5pb.) which co-developed ChäoS;HEAd NoAH with Nitroplus, hinted at an official English release on Twitter, replying to @ropdlk who said “what about ChäoS;HEAd NoAH in English too? pretty please?” with “Trust me! Wait a moment(○´・д・)ノ” on his official Twitter account @chiyomaru5pb. On the same day, Chiyomaru Shikura replied similarly to another tweet, replying to @PenX1213 who said “Thank you! Please bring Chaos;Head NoAH in English too!” with “The chaos fluctuation is caused by a random number or a chaos generation function. I will probably meet your expectations!!”
On February 24, 2022, the Science Adventure Series Twitter account @kagakuadv tweeted in English “Please wait for further information about the English version” with an image of the ChäoS;HEAd NoAH/ChäoS;Child Double Pack being released on Nintendo Switch in Japanese that same day, indicating that an official English release was likely to be announced soon.
On March 10, 2022, the localization was formally announced by Spike Chunsoft. ChäoS;HEAd NoAH's English localization was included as part of a double pack with ChäoS;Child and released on October 7, 2022.
