Katsuko Momose (百瀬 克子, Momose Katsuko) is a private detective and the president of the Freesia Credit Bureau detective agency who often helps Yasuji Ban with his investigations. Yua Kusunoki also seeks her help in investigating the New Generation Madness. She proves to be more helpful to the New Gen investigation than Ban’s partner Mamoru Suwa.

Appearance

Momose is a stout woman with short brown hair. She usually wears a white shirt with a black bowtie and a dark blue skirt.

Personality

Momose is always busy with work at her agency and doesn't usually have time to investigate anything she is not paid for. She is, however, willing to make an exception for her old friend Yasuji Ban, especially if he brings her sweets, which she loves eating. However, despite their friendship, she still harshly criticizes him for things such as being reckless in his investigations and putting his partner Mamoru Suwa in danger. She is generally nice to other visitors of Freesia, such as Yua Kusunoki and Suwa.

Sena Route

In the Sena route of ChäoS;HEAd NoAH, it is revealed that Momose is actually a Debugger/Surveillant for the Committee of 300. She is the only character in ChäoS;HEAd NoAH who is actually loyal to the Committee, as the leaders of N.O.Z.O.M.I., the Cosmic Church of the Divine Light, and the Meiwa Party all rebelled against them, and Gen'ichi Norose in particular was a threat who needed to be stopped for the Committee to realize their ambitions for the Human Domestication Project (aka the New World Order).

Throughout the events of ChäoS;HEAd NoAH, Katsuko Momose works as a Debugger for the Committee of 300, helping them remove “errors”. She actively tries removing traitors like Gen'ichi Norose who betrayed the Committee, who also happen to be the antagonist of Takumi and the six Gigalomaniac girls, as well as helping her friend Detective Ban who helped her found her detective agency. This ironically makes her an ally of Takumi and the other teenage Gigalomaniacs despite being a loyal follower of the central antagonist organization for the entire Science Adventure Series, the Committee of 300. After Gen'ichi Norose is defeated and Noah II is destroyed, Momose's mission as a Debugger is complete and she returns to Surveillant mode, using her detective agency to gather information, and relaying anything noteworthy she finds out to her superiors in the Committee of 300, no longer actively taking part in events.

Whether she really is part of the Committee of 300 or not is up to interpretation.

At the end of the Sena route, she seemingly decides to adopt the baby that was originally killed as a “cheat code”, even though it would have now been considered an error by the Committee due to its alive state.

In ChäoS;Child

Etymology

• The name Katsuko means “overcome, kindly, skillfully” (克, katsu) and “child” (子, ko).
