O-Front in the visual novel

The O-Front (equivalent to the real-world QFRONT) is an eight story building in downtown Shibuya, next to the Shibuya Crossing, and is filled with shops. A very humiliating incident for Takumi Nishijou takes place on the roof of that building on the evening of the day the Second Melt happened, October 27, 2009, an incident which was supposedly orchestrated by Shogun and the TV psychic investigator Yuri Brightman. The O-Front incident does not take place in the anime at all, one of many things that was cut.

Takumi was tricked into coming there through blackmail about his sister Nanami Nishijou being in danger of being killed if he did not comply with Shogun’s demands. Up on O-Front, Shogun hid himself in the shadows and instructed Takumi to grab a DI-sword in the distance. When Takumi later charged at him, Takumi only found of him a wheelchair and a Darth Spider helmet.

If the player of the ChäoS;HEAd game makes the wrong choices during this incident, there is a Game Over and Takumi is pushed off from O-Front by Shogun, falling onto the ground several storeys below. The ChäoS;HEAd Walkthrough explains how to avoid that Game Over, or, alternately, how to make it happen.

It later turns out that it was not Shogun, but Mamoru Suwa impersonating him who was present at the O-Front incident, who tried to obtain a CODE sample from Takumi. Gen'ichi Norose also seems to have been the one who cut off Nanami's hand and kidnapped her.

Yuri Brightman

Yuri Brightman is the 43 year old American “psychic investigator” who claims to be a psychic on TV. While some take him seriously, and his supposed confirmation of Takumi's psychic abilities got multiple major studios to broadcast the O-Front incident, it is doubtful whether Brightman has any real psychic powers.
